Common Buyer Questions
What is the difference between Sudan and Egypt origin hibiscus?
Sudan Kordofan hibiscus produces higher anthocyanin content (15–25 mg/g vs 8–15 mg/g for Egypt standard), deeper crimson colour, and lower moisture. It is the premium grade used by beverage manufacturers, functional food brands, and high-value herbal tea producers. Egypt-origin hibiscus is more widely available and price-competitive for standard tea and ingredient applications.
What quality tests are available for hibiscus exports?
Standard quality documents: CoA (moisture, purity, ash, colour value/ASTA, anthocyanin content), pesticide residue test, heavy metals test, microbiological test. Anthocyanin quantification (spectrophotometric method) available on request. Documents issued by accredited Egyptian/Sudanese labs.
What is the MOQ for hibiscus and can we order mixed origins?
Minimum order: 500 kg per grade/origin. No FCL requirement — we can consolidate with other commodities. Mixed orders (Sudan Grade A + Egypt Grade B) accepted. For FCL-equivalent quantities (5+ MT), direct container booking from Port Sudan or Alexandria.
Is your hibiscus Halal certified and compliant for the European market?
Yes. Our hibiscus carries Halal Certificate from EOS (Egyptian Organization for Standardization), valid for GCC, Southeast Asian, and Muslim market requirements. For EU markets, full EU food safety compliance documentation provided including pesticide residue tests and heavy metals analysis per EU Regulation (EC) No 396/2005.
